President's Message 2019

Richard A. Reichert

Richard A. Reichert, President, NYS GIS Association, 2019

Valued Association Members,

It is with great excitement and a little fear that I step into the role of President of the NYS GIS Association. I promise I will do my utmost to serve the needs of the Association membership in a professional and thorough manner. I am thankful for the guidance I received from our Past-President, Andrew Mendola, and I look forward to carrying on the work he started. Additionally, I look forward to working with our current Board members, whom I personally feel are a very engaged and attentive group of professionals.

I encourage every member out there to find a way to participate in the Association. Through your efforts, the Association becomes a more valuable asset to our members, our communities, and our profession. A list of Committees can be found on our web site and I doubt any of them would refuse a helping hand. Please consider giving a little time. A little can go a long way.

In the coming months I personally hope to find us working on the following tasks:

  • Continuing development of the popular webinars
  • Pursuing professional development opportunities including education credits
  • Increasing support for Committees
  • Increasing outreach and support for high school GIS programs
  • Growing membership numbers and participation
  • Organizing a not to be missed NYGeoCon

I welcome feedback and ideas from our membership. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. You can always reach me by using the Contact Us page.

Let’s make this a great year for the Association!

Sincerely,
Rick Reichert
President, NYS GIS Association
