Membership Year and Renewal

Welcome to the NYS GIS Association.  We offer tremendous value to our members at a very low price.  Our membership year is from July 1st to June 30th. If you are not a current member and join on or after April 1st, you will be credited for the current year and the next! This is just our way of making it easy for you to get even more value for your membership. Speaking of value - did you know your membership is worth 44 times what you pay?  It's true! Membership Fee

I Never Seem to Get Informational Emails From NYS GIS Association

If you have a gmail account, please be aware that Google puts all mail chimp and other email service messages on the promotions tab automatically. Same with any .org emails. You can use the gmail client to move NYS GIS Association messages over to the primary tab so that future messages don’t get missed.

How Do I Change My Email Address?

You can login with an email address that is no longer active and then change it!

  1. Click here to get to the Member Login form.
  2. In the first box, enter the email you used to register and your password. After you change your email, you will use the new email address for future logins.
  3. Click on the blue ‘Login’ button
  4. This brings you to the next form, the ‘Login Submit’ form,
  5. Click on the blue ‘Members Only Section’ button
  6. This brings you to the next form, the ‘Member Page,
  7. Click on the ‘Edit Profile’ button
  8. This brings you to the next form, the ‘Edit Profile’ form where you will see your current information.
  9. Make any desired changes, e.g. email address.
  10. Click on the ‘Update’ button

Congratulations, you have edited your profile.

How do I unsubscribe/subscribe from emails?

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Go to edit profile
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and check/uncheck opt-out of NYS GIS emails.

That’s it!

I tried to create a profile, but it says I already have one!

If you already have a record in the database and you try to create another one you will see this error:

The following errors were found on the form. Please go back and resubmit your information:

An account already exists for this email. Please check the Members Directory to make sure you are not already in the database.

You do not need to create another profile and only need to log in to renew your membership.  If you’ve forgotten your password, use the Forgot Password link on the Login page.

Error Message:   Sorry login was not successful, please try again. Please check the email address and password.

If you receive this error message: Sorry login was not successful, please try again. Please check the email address and password.

Go back and check your information. If you get this message again, go back to the join page (click tab at top of page) and check if you have ever been a member and if you are currently a member.

PayPal Auto Renewal Questions and Answers

A. How can I view the status of my subscriptions?

Here’s how to view the status of your subscriptions:

  1. Log into your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile near the top of the page.
  3. Click My money.
  4. Click Update next to “My preapproved payments.”

You can view the status of your subscription under “Status.”

Here are some more details about subscription statuses:

  • Active: There are still payments scheduled for the future.
  • Suspended: Payments have been temporarily stopped.
  • Canceled: This subscription is canceled and no further payments can be made.
  • Failed: The payment could not be completed. This payment may be reattempted.
  • Billed: The subscription payment due for this billing period has been issued.
  • To be billed: The subscription payment due for this billing period has not yet been issued.
  • Pending: A subscription was created but a payment has not been completed
  • Completed: The final subscription payment has been completed, and there are no payments scheduled for the future.

B. How can I cancel a subscription?

Here’s how to cancel a subscription or recurring payment:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile near the top of the page.
  3. Select My money.
  4. In the “My preapproved payments” section, click Update.
  5. Select the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel and click Cancel.
  6. Click Cancel Profile to confirm your request.

Note:

  • You can’t reactivate a recurring payment after you cancel it.
  • Canceling a payment doesn’t cancel your contract with the merchant. You’ll need to pay the merchant for any goods or services you received.

C. What is the problem with my subscription?

You should contact your seller directly if you have a problem with your subscription. The seller’s contact information can be found on the transaction details or in the email receipt you received when you signed up for your subscription.

To find your seller’s contact details:

  1. Log into your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile.
  3. Click My money.
  4. Click Update next to “My preapproved payments.”
  5. Click the merchant name in the “Merchant” column to view the details of your subscription.

Here are some common subscription statuses that may also help you:

  • Canceled: This subscription is canceled and no further payments can be made. To make a new payment you will need to set up a new subscription.
  • Failed: The subscription payment has not completed. A failed subscription may be re-attempted by the merchant. You may need to update the subscription payment method.
  • Suspended: Payments have been temporarily stopped. Only the merchant can re-activate a suspended subscription. If you did not expect the subscription to be suspended you may need to update the subscription payment method.
