Attention Students

New this year there will be a “Speed Networking” session for students and Geospatial Professionals on Wednesday morning. Come with your questions for experts in the field. It’s guaranteed that you’ll make new connections and you never know where a networking session can lead.

When?  Where?

To start with, the event will be held in one of the best cities in NY….. Saratoga Springs!  It will be at the Saratoga Hilton on November 12th & 13th.  Mark your calendars now for a great time and a great learning experience!

What Are the Major NYS Conferences in 2013?

Last year, the Association, recognizing that this would be the first time that it had sole responsibility for the State Conference, decided to put all its energies into it and to alternate years between the Conference and the Summit.  As a result, there will be no NYS GeoSpatial Summit in 2013. NYGeoCon 2013 will be the only statewide GIS conference in 2013 New York State.  DON’T MISS OUT!

New Format

For years, the conference used the same format of volunteered speakers sorted into generalized tracks.  Conference evaluations indicated that attendees wanted something different with new, “invited” speakers discussing different topics to make the conference more of a learning experience about new technology, software, methodologies, etc.  Last year we did that and got many favorable reviews.  However, we also were told that attendees wanted the opportunity to see more of what their peers around the state were doing.  So, this year we are bringing in a hybrid model in which we will have a number of “invited” speakers discussing new topics on technology and industry directions as well as “volunteered” presentations by your peers in New York.
