Presenter: Kent Marten

Bio: As the Product Manager for Maps and Spatial Analysis at Tableau, I am responsible for the vision and development priorities for mapping and spatial capabilities in Tableau. I have been at Tableau for just over 3 years. My passion is to help people solve location-based problems and with Tableau, the goal is to build a product that allows solving these problems in the most intuitive way. As a product manager, I spend as much of my time with customers, trying to understand their use cases and requirements, across the spectrum of roles in traditional GIS and modern Business Intelligence.

Prior to joining Tableau, I worked for Esri for 10 years, helping build functionality across ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro. I am a Canadian, now living in Seattle. I was raised in Toronto and first studied GIS/Remote Sensing at the University of Waterloo (2004), moving to Nova Scotia to complete an Advanced GIS Diploma from the Centre of Geographic Sciences in 2005, and later in life receiving my Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Redlands with an emphasis in GIS in 2010.
