Greetings from the University of Kentucky Department of Geography!

As a mapping professional, you’re no doubt aware of the rising relevance of web maps and open source tools.  If you’re looking to expand your skills into open source GIS and coding for web mapping, the online courses from New Maps Plus can provide the necessary instruction to take your GIS career to the next level. Our completely online program focuses on open source software, JavaScript programming, and cartographic design for the web.

The online Graduate Certificate in Digital Mapping is based on a three course sequence:

THIS SPRING ONLY: Students that are able to undertake a full-time course load during our Winter & Spring 2018 terms are eligible to pay a lower, full-time tuition rate and save $,$$$!  Students pursuing this option can earn the certificate in just 22 weeks!  Ask about the NMP Accelerated Program today!

Alternatively, students with sufficient experience may choose to complete the graduate certificate with MAP 672, MAP 673 and a more advanced class in web mapping (MAP 675, Collaborative Geovisualization).  This course sequence is not available as an accelerated program.

All courses are completely online and run for 10-week terms with the next start date on January 15th.  The application deadline for the upcoming Winter term is January 3rd.  GRE scores are not required!  Visit our website to review sample syllabi for the courses or check out some of the student map samples, and please don’t hesitate to email us with any questions about the program or application process.
