State of the State In GIS and Many Presentation Slides Available Now

Updated Nov 16, 2015: More presentation slides are available now including the state of the state in GIS by William Johnson, NYS Geographic Information Officer.

Welcome to the NYS GIS Association’s NYGeoCon!

For over 30 years Geospatial Professionals from throughout New York State and surrounding regions have been gathering to network, share and discover the latest in GIS and related technology. NYGeoCon is the premier NYS GIS conference. It occurs only once every two years and provides an opportunity for you to obtain training, see timely presentations, attend workshops and find out what your peers are doing. The last NYGeoCon held in 2013 was a huge success, where we sold out and attendees left with a new awareness of the latest in GIS. Please join us as we continue our success at NYGeoCon 2015 at the Hilton Albany October 28-30!

Keynote Speaker: Michael Byrne

Michael Byrne is currently a project director in the Technology and Innovation Division at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). He is the lead for implementing the technology supporting Home Mortgage Disclosure Act activities for CFPB. Prior to joining CFPB, Byrne was the Geographic Information Officer at the Federal Communications Commission. Prior to that, he was the Geographic Information Officer for the State of California. In 2014, Byrne was a recipient of the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America medal for innovative implementations of mapping at the FCC including the National Broadband Map, an interactive and searchable online map showing broadband availability nationwide. Wednesday Workshop: Oct 28, 3:00 -5:00
Public Speaking with Dan Nainan

Dan Nainan is a comedian who enjoys helping others in their efforts to become better public speakers. His greatest reward is when he is able to see people he has taught utilizing what they have learned in their public speaking. Most people in their professional career will have to speak before a group at some point. For many, this can be a very nerve racking and terrifying experience. This workshop will teach even the most shy person how to overcome fears of speaking before a group of people. Even those who have been public speaking for years will want to attend to learn how to eliminate some bad habits or improve their methods. More information on Dan and his work at his website.
