Mike is the ultimate “strategic” thinker who integrates the use of GIS into government business processes to achieve dramatic results.  He has worked in healthcare, IT, natural resources and infrastructure planning.  Along the way, he has been the Geographic Information Officer (GIO) for California, the GIO of the FCC (broadband mapping) and now is with the Technology and Innovation Division at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  In 2014, he received the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America medal for innovative implementations of mapping at the FCC for the National Broadband Map, which was a groundbreaking Open Source project.
