Candidates are requested to fill two (2) vacancies on the New York State GIS Association (NYSGISA) Board of Directors. To qualify as a candidate, a person must be a member in good standing of NYSGISA as of September 22nd, 2012. Each newly elected Board member will serve a two-year term.
Ballots will be submitted prior to the Associations Annual Meeting held on Tuesday, October 23rd prior to the Geospatial Summit reception in Skaneateles, NY. (http://www.nygeosummit.org/index.htm) The newly elected Board Members will be announced during the meeting.
The duties of a Board member include attendance at all Board meetings (typically once a month via teleconference call) as well as active participation in one of the standing NYSGISA Committees (Education, Marketing, Conference, Regional Coordination, Legislative, Communication, Professional Development and Membership). Interested parties are encouraged to look through the Association’s website (http://www.nysgis.com) and issues of the Association newsletter for more information on recent activities. This is a great opportunity to get involved with GIS statewide and earn GISP professional contribution credit!
If you would like to be considered as a candidate for the Board, please submit by mail or email a written statement of your interest to the NYSGISA Nominating Committee by 12 noon on Monday, September 24th. This statement should include an explanation of why you are interested in becoming a Board member and what you hope to contribute to the NYSGISA in that capacity.
