Synopsis

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, offer tremendous potential to collect geospatial information in ways that will be supplement and replace existing collection capabilities. Unfortunately, integrating broad commercial use of UAS into the existing legal and policy framework is proving to be a significant challenge. These issues go beyond getting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to fly a UAS for commercial purposes, and include privacy, liability, insurance and data licensing. This webinar will identify the major legal and policy issues that must be addressed and the measures that are currently being taken at the federal, state and local levels.
